SmartTogether project member Prof.Dr. Mirjana Zavođa appointed to the NBSScience Forum of the Republic of Germany
At the end of 2025, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic of Germany convened a Scientific Forum in Bonn to support the effective implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy 2030 (NBS 2030), bringing together 25 leading scientists and experts from across Germany.
We are proud that Prof.Dr. Mirjana Zavođa, a member of the Smart Together project, has been appointed to the NBS Science Forum (first from the left in the photo).
NBS 2030 is Germany’s central nature conservation strategy, encompassing overarching goals, such as species protection and ecosystem restoration, as well as other current topics including urban nature, climate protection, and the expansion of renewable energies. The aim of the NBS Science Forum is to translate scientific findings into policy processes by contributing scientific expertise to the implementation of the strategy.
Since 2022, Prof. Zavođa has been a Professor of Forest Policy at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Faculty of Resource Management (HAWK) in Göttingen. Prior to that, she worked at the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment as a researcher in the field of forest policy and economics. The successful cooperation continued through the project SmartTogether funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia within programme DIASPORA 2023.
Prof. Zavođa emphasizes: “Riparian forests are one of the key elements of biodiversity in both Serbia and Germany.”
