SmartTogether project launches high-tech monitoring to safeguard riparian forests

This spring, as part of the SmartTogether project we installed IoT-based monitoring systems in riparian forests of Serbia to continuously track tree vitality. These innovative tools provide high-resolution data on tree growth and physiological status, supporting improved decision-making and more effective management and protection of these ecologically valuable forest areas. By integrating smart technologies into regular forest monitoring, the project aims to strengthen climate resilience and ensure the long-term sustainability of riparian ecosystems.

The collected data will help forest managers better understand how trees respond to environmental changes such as drought, flooding, and temperature fluctuations. This knowledge is crucial for adapting management practices to evolving climate conditions and for preserving the biodiversity and ecological functions of riparian forests. The SmartTogether project demonstrates how technology can play a key role in supporting science-based conservation strategies.
